Christopher Schell, LMFT
I’m Christopher Schell, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California, with a passion for helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges and rediscover their capacity for growth, healing, and connection.
My Philosophy
I believe that true healing comes from honoring the profound connection between the mind and body. Every client brings their own story, strengths, and struggles into the therapy space, and I approach each session with curiosity, respect, and compassion. My goal is to create a collaborative, nonjudgmental environment where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to make meaningful change.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is integrative and flexible, combining evidence-based interventions with a holistic perspective on well-being. Drawing from modalities such as EMDR, trauma-focused therapy, mindfulness, and somatic awareness, I tailor treatment to meet the unique needs of each client. Whether we are working through the impacts of trauma, managing ADHD or neurodevelopmental challenges, addressing anxiety or depression, or fostering stronger relationships, I strive to create personalized roadmaps that align with your values and goals.
My Background
Before becoming a therapist, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Sciences and Exercise Science, which laid the foundation for my understanding of the vital connection between physical health and mental well-being. I later completed a Master’s in Psychology and Counseling, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as Professional Clinical Counseling.
In addition to my clinical training, I bring a background in life coaching, which enriches my ability to support clients in setting goals, building resilience, and creating lasting change. My diverse counseling experience spans inpatient and outpatient care with children and adolescents, individual and family therapy, and extensive work with adults across diverse communities.
Specialized Training & Certifications
I am committed to continuous professional growth and hold advanced certifications, including:
- Certified Clinical Trauma Professional I & II (CCTP)
- Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP)
- ADHD Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP)
- Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
These tools allow me to offer cutting-edge, evidence-based treatment while keeping the human connection at the heart of therapy.
A Lifespan Perspective
From children navigating developmental hurdles, to adults seeking balance and resilience, to couples and families striving for deeper connection, I work across the lifespan to help clients feel empowered in facing life’s complexities. Therapy with me is not a one-size-fits-all process—it is a journey we take together, rooted in collaboration, empathy, and respect for your unique story.
